Christianity
Christianity is the world’s largest religion. It is based on the life and teachings of Jesus as described in the New Testament. Believers, called Christians, consider Jesus the Son of God, whose crucifixion served as atonement for all human sins and whose resurrection assures believers of life after death.
The Uniting Church is a Christian denomination that considers itself part of the heritage of the Christian Church passed down through the ages.
It was formed in 1977 as a union between the Congregational Union of Australia, the Methodist Church of Australasia and part of the Presbyterian Church of Australia.
The Uniting Church believes that Christians in Australia are called to bear witness to a unity of faith and life in Jesus Christ which transcends cultural and economic, national and racial boundaries.
