Ross Neville is
the Consultant for Rural Evangelism & Mission in NSW. Ross is
supported by the Evangelism and Renewal Executive which oversights a
network of Uniting Church people interested in evangelism in NSW.
Rural Evangelism and Mission also supports Kel Hodge and Julie
Greig the Rural
Chaplains, in their work.
Kel and Julie's role is to
encourage sustainable living and the development of community spirit,
provide pastoral support for a network of drought support workers and
assist in coordinating disaster response in rural NSW.
As farmers
battle the stress of what has been labelled the worst drought of the
century, rural communities are suffering.
Families are
in severe debt, relationships are under pressure and people are
stretched — up to and beyond breaking point — resulting in widespread
depression and sometimes suicide.
Through
giving generously to the Rural
Support Service Chaplain's Fund, you can
help the church to provide practical support to drought-affected
people.
The
counselling, chaplaincy, community-building efforts and emergency
relief your money supports will also bring hope. This hope and your
prayers are vital to this long-term effort to help God’s people who
are suffering.
