Ten thousand leaders have strengths identified by NCLS Research

2006 NCLS Leader Survey results now available online — www.ncls.org.au/leaders

“Ten thousand Australian church leaders took part in the 2006 NCLS Leaders Survey,” said Dr Ruth Powell, NCLS Director. “We are pleased to announce that these leaders can now view their leadership strengths online.”

In 2006, church leaders in 22 denominations and movements were invited to complete a Leaders Survey as part of the National Church Life Survey. The 10,000 leaders who took part can now receive a report of their unique leadership strengths via a confidential password on the NCLS website www.ncls.org.au/leaders.

NCLS research into effective and sustainable leadership over many years has identified twelve key leadership strengths that contribute to effective leadership. These strengths, built on strong personal foundations, create leadership practices that are effective and sustainable.

“These initial results identify the top four leadership strengths for each leader, based on their 2006 NCLS survey responses. We hope this is a source of encouragement and an opportunity for personal reflection.” explained Dr Powell.

NCLS Leader Survey online in late 2008

The NCLS Leaders Survey will be made available online in late 2008. This will allow leaders to review their leadership strengths or appraise them for the first time. This will be part of an integrated leadership appraisal process for people to review their leadership strengths and personal foundations.

Lead With Your Strengths Appraisal Kit coming in late 2008

In late 2008 NCLS Research will launch new leadership resources, the ‘Lead With Your Strengths’ kit. Including a book, booklet and easy to use workbook, it offers a leadership appraisal process that allows leaders and leadership teams to develop leadership strengths and build strong personal foundations.

“We are committed to the development of ongoing research and resources to support effective and sustainable leadership,” said Dr Powell. “This is an exciting step for the team, with the online leaders survey and the appraisal kit promising to be a most significant resource for church leaders and teams to develop their leadership potential.”
