Barbecues across Australia to support NCYC

People across Australia are being invited to hold a barbecue on (or around) Sunday May 4, as part of the build up to NCYC09.

Any group can get involved - Uniting Church congregations, UnitingCare agencies, schools, KUCA clubs, UCAF groups, you name it!

The organisers of NCYC09 in Melbourne are hoping many churches will host a simple BBQ before or after worship that day.

"It will be a great way for your group to share stories about NCYCs they've attended in the past, watch the short promo DVD to hear all the news about NCYC09 in Melbourne, pray for the event, and raise a few dollars for your own delegates or disadvantaged delegates," said NCYC09 Coordinator, Rohan Pryor.

"NCYC is an event for the whole church - parents and grandparents and great grandparents are interested in the life-changing things that could happen - as well as young people."

To register, visit the NCYC website, email the office or phone 1300 00 NCYC (6242). Any groups registering will be sent copies of the new DVD with all the latest news on key speakers, bands, a look at the program, the key theme, main venue, accommodation, fundraising tips, and what else to expect.

You'll also receive an NCYC09 frisbee, posters to promote the BBQ, suggestions about catering, prayer requests, and of course forms to register for NCYC or purchase merchandise.

Each group will need to provide their own barbecue, gas bottle, food (bacon, eggs, sausages, vegie burgers, etc!).

The NCYC09 office would love it if you emailed or posted some photos of your barbecue, and to offer a short (or long) prayer for NCYC09 at that time.

The barbecue could also be a great chance to share some stories, photos and memorabilia from past NCYC experiences! Almost every congregation has at least one person who has attended one.

By asking for a gold coin donation towards the barbecue you'll help to raise some funds to send your own delegates (or disadvantaged delegates) to NCYC09 in Melbourne.

Happy sizzling on (or around) Sunday May 4.
