The Secretariat consists of the General Secretary’s Office and the Synod Communications Unit.
The General Secretary, the Rev. Paul Swadling, is the Executive Officer of the Synod and is responsible for coordinating the work of the Synod boards and other agencies. The role of General Secretary involves pastoral, advisory and administrative functions.
The Communications Unit publishes and distributes Insights magazine, Connect newsletter, Mustard Seed, Living is Giving, The Link and other publications. The Communications Unit conducts media relations and provides printing and web services for the Uniting Church. It also helps church and other organisations find affordable solutions to their communications problems — in the media, on the internet or with publications.
